Whats the difference. Where can I find both to download with release notes. Does new BIOS on C797EE model enables support processors like Intel Core 2 Duo X9000 and SODIMM PC6400 for 8GB?3. There is testimony of successful upgrade here. Only difference is its not Compaq Presario C797EE but C771US and was able to upgrade CPU Core 2 Duo T9300. Is there any way to upgrade C700 series C797EE to Intel C2d Extreme X9000 CPU's. And you cannot install a Core2 Extreme either. Officially, a T8300 is the max but they are reported work with a T9500 so not surprising that guy got a T9300 to work. I am more skeptical of the 5 gigs of RAM claim. I would rather have 2 x 2 running in dual channel mode by installing two identical chips. It is essentially the same notebook as an HP dv6500t series...965 chipset. Here is the Service ManualManualIf this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it. My BIOS is and I will soon be installing a t9500 cpu, 500gb SSD, and a newer wifi RAM I have been successful using 1 stick of 1gb in the slot closest to the motherboard coupled with a 2gb in the outer slot for a total of 3gb RAM. I recently upgraded the outer 2gb to a 4 gb stick and the laptop now sees 5gb I was so excited! Mixing and matching and changing slots could not yield higher than 5gb though. Using an Elpida 2gb module on the inner with my new Hynix 4gb module on the outer, Windows would start to load, but die about the time you see the windows logo ball with the colors floating around you provide us with the brand and model of RAM sticks you mention having successfully used for your 6gb results? Details would be awesome! Thanks for your work! Was this reply helpful? Makes me think I got a dud or scammed overseas purchase from ebay. Works decent though. I generally have one user profile logged in, run explorer and chrome at the same time, as well as have multiple adobe .pdf's open and generally a word doc or two. Doesn't give me issues. Web pages are usually a host of youtube how-to ' s and related Web pages. Maybe a total of 20 tabs average between explorer and chrome. Of the 5gb's I stay about 4gb full and my processor often hits max, though it seems to plug along well not sure if maybe I didn't get the driver right or what. I haven't installed the SSD yet. I used some sw that came with it to prep the system, and then then it started having compatibility issues with ssd sw interface. I have yet to care enough for a work around. Other things have had my sure what processor came stock for you, but if you're willing to step up to the 4gb ram, I imagine some may work and some may not. Not certain of your chances there. Not ready to pull mine and reference the ram part at the moment, but I remember it was a low density 4gb watched ebay for a while for a matching series 2gb hynix, but ebay was flooded with too many results and when I did find numbers by looking at picks, I forgot to bid sorry, I'm the guy that bids last minute, and they got away. I'll look more into it I imagine when I swap the hard drive and upgrade to Windows 7-Eleven. Was this reply helpful?
